The Family Practice Physician functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting.
- He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in family medicine.
- He/she is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs.
- The Family Practice Physician demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and system-based practice.
- He/she works with administrative, nursing, advanced practice providers, and specialists to assure safe, effective, quality care and to promote Hutchinson Healths culture and mission.
Clinical Knowledge
- Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of medical conditions.
- Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets results.
- Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
- Develops, implements, evaluates and alters the plan of care as needed.
- Manages general medical and surgical concerns based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
- Counsels and educates patients and families.
- Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Roles and Responsibilities Specific to Area of Clinical Practice
Outpatient Specific Responsibilities
- Manage chronic health conditions in a primary care setting
- Perform annual physical exams and manage health maintenance needs of family medicine population
- Care for acute and chronic needs of patients from newborn to elderly
- Teach health promotion and disease management to patients and families with chronic and acute medical conditions.
Procedures
- Physicians will have the opportunity to perform a number of office based procedures tailored to their comfort level and areas of expertise including, but not limited to the following:
- Wart removal
- Pap smears
- IUD removal
- IUD placement
- Skin lesion removal
All duties and requirements must be performed consistent with the Hutchinson Health performance standards, the Hutchinson Health Physician Practice group standards, and Joint Commission guidelines.
Salary:
$17Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
